Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) Executive Awards
Client Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Department of Education and Training (DET)
Year 2009 – 2011
The COALAR Executive Awards was an internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program that brought leading researchers, executives and students from Latin America (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico) to Australia to undertake short term study, research and professional development in a broad range of disciplines.
The Awards provided funding for professional development opportunities for high achievers in business, industry, education or government. The Awards focused on building skills and knowledge through a host work organisation rather than through formal enrolment in a study program. The COALAR Executive Awards were funded by the Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and its objective was to strengthen relations between Australia and Latin America.
Scope Global was appointed to manage post-selection support and administrative services for the program comprised of the following five phases: program establishment; marketing and selection; preliminary advice and guidance; ongoing support; and departure, debrief and exit.
The program was a great success in that all awardees reported that their award experience advanced their professional and personal goals and increased, or had the potential to increase linkages, networks and engagement between Australia and Latin America. Host organisations also reported that their linkages and relationships with Latin America were enhanced as a result of the program.
