The improvement of the standard of English throughout Bangladesh has been a high priority for the Government of Bangladesh and the BELTT Program in Bangladesh represented a practical arrangement to improve the quality of teaching in both the primary and secondary sub-sectors. Both the Bangladeshi Ministry of Education and Ministry of Primary and Mass Education recognised the need for English Language Teacher Trainers and requested their placements in Primary Training Institutes, Secondary Teacher Training Colleges and the National Academy for Primary Education. Funded by DFAT, The BELTT program was designed to assist the Government of Bangladesh to develop the skills and capacity of teachers with the overarching goal of improving the standard of English in Bangladesh. This was done through regular classroom teaching of trainee teachers; demonstration classes; and the development of appropriate training materials and pedagogic methodologies.
Scope Global was responsible for full management of this program which involved the recruitment and selection of specialist volunteer English teachers, development of appropriate assignments in-country in close coordination with the Government of Bangladesh, pre-departure preparation and in-country orientation for the teachers, full logistical and in-country support, program monitoring and departure and post-assignment services.
