Today, 5 December, marks International Volunteer Day 2016. Across the world, this day is celebrated to raise awareness about volunteers’ contributions to economic and social development at local, national and international levels.
As an organisation, Scope Global has a particular affinity with volunteers and volunteering. Through programs we manage, we have supported Australians to volunteer internationally for more than 15 years. We’ve seen first-hand how volunteering can have enduring and positive impacts on the lives of individuals and communities.
Many of our staff members actively volunteer in their local communities, and we have more than 10 returned international volunteers on our staff. To celebrate International Volunteers Day, we’ve asked some of our returned international volunteers a few questions about their volunteer experience.
