Three delegates from Scope Global are attending the International Volunteer Coordinating Organisations Conference in Bonn, Germany this week.
The conference is an annual strategic meeting of International Volunteer Cooperation Organisations (IVCOs) and this year follows the theme ‘Increasing resilience of communities through volunteering’.
Christine Molitor (CEO), Anthony Rologas (Executive Manager, People, Culture and Knowledge) and Simona Achitei (Program Manager Volunteer Program) will contribute to the conference and showcase volunteer perspectives gained through managing the Australian Government funded Australian Volunteers for International Development program.
Christine and Simona will also present on the following topics:
- How can national and international volunteers work together to optimise impact in fragile communities?
- Approaches to be most effective when working in marginalised communities
- Leveraging the current innovation agenda: how IVCOs can leverage the power of communication to help people understand what can be done to build local resilience, and ultimately empower volunteers and communities.
The conference will be attended by international volunteering practitioners from across the world, primarily representatives of IVCO (such as Voluntary Services Overseas and Peace Corps) but also academic researchers, other volunteer sending organisations and donors.
After the conference, Anthony will stay on to attend the United Nations Volunteers Partnerships Forum. The forum will bring together a wide range of representatives to explore the theme ‘Revitalising partnerships: volunteerism for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’.
