Scope Global has secured a three-year contract to deliver the Australia Awards South and West Asia Program.
Funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the program provides long-term scholarships and short course awards for individuals from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan. It is aimed at building skills and knowledge to enhance the recipient’s ability to contribute to their country’s development.
The Australia Awards are an integral part of Australia’s development cooperation program and reflect the government’s focus on public and economic diplomacy, partly through building links with countries and regions. In 2014, DFAT invested $362.2 million in Australia Awards, enabling over 4,400 recipients from more than 100 countries to undertake study, research and professional development.
Scope Global Executive Manager International Scholarships and Development Andrew Brown says the Australia Awards program win represents new opportunities for the business.
“Adding this project to our portfolio of work is strategically important as we continue to expand our capability and capacity in the international development and education sector,” Mr Brown says.
“We hope in successfully delivering this program on behalf of the Australian Government we can contribute towards the development of future leaders and global communities.”
Scope will support approximately 350 award holders each year and manage the program from Colombo, Sri Lanka, with offices established in each of the country locations. Additional management and support personnel are based in Adelaide.
