Student mobility

Scope Global’s student mobility solutions focus on tailored faculty-led study tours and short-term international internships that are designed to change the way participants see their world.

By taking concepts from the classroom to the real world, we create powerful learning experiences and enable students to develop a deeper connection with their studies.

Scope Global is committed to creating outstanding and personalised international learning opportunities for students in a range of disciplines including health, law, environmental science, international development and international relations. We help students navigate challenges of adapting to life in another culture successfully.

These programs also have an impact through conscious and ethical choices about who we engage and work with throughout the region.

Scope Global-led Study Tours

1 On the Great Wall

In 2017–18 Scope Global facilitated short-term study tours for 95 students, taking students out of the classroom and providing rich learning experiences by linking classroom studies with real world scenarios.

Through these experiences, students have the opportunity to engage with practitioners and communities, and to engage more holistically with the learning content.

Study tours build on students’ soft skills such as communication, cross-cultural understanding, resilience and confidence, which supports them in being job ready at the conclusion of their studies.

Working with students, typically in partnership with Australian universities (including the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, Monash University and the University of Queensland), Scope Global goes above and beyond to support the students wherever possible to ensure their study tour runs smoothly.

PACE International

PACE International is a Macquarie University program that provides the opportunity for undergraduate students to have an immersive community development experience in a developing country, while gaining credit towards their degree.

Scope Global facilitates in-country management and support to students throughout their program including their in-country orientation and placement at a local organisation. This year Scope Global provided these services for PACE International in China, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vanuatu.

In 2017–18, 44 students participated in the program across the four countries, gaining practical experience to build on their theoretical learning and develop skills for employment at the conclusion of their studies.

Student placements included working with PACOS Trust, a community-based organisation dedicated to supporting indigenous communities in Sabah, near Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. The students undertook research into land rights issues affecting indigenous village communities in remote parts of Sabah, which contributed to PACOS Trust’s overarching goal of supporting these communities.

In Vanuatu, students learned about the impact of climate change and how it is being managed in the country.
