After 17 years – and 2.1 million days of volunteering – we concluded Scope Global’s contribution to Australian Government volunteer programs in December 2017.
Since 2001, Scope Global has supported more than 6700 Australians who collectively volunteered for a grand total of 2,125,782 days. Our volunteers worked in 33 countries with 2959 partner organisations, and with the support of 430 Australian partner organisations behind them.
Scope Global contributed to Australia’s long history of international volunteering through managing the Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development program, Volunteering for International Development from Australia and Australian Volunteers for International Development on behalf of the Australian Government.
We managed all aspects of the programs, including partnership brokering, assignment development, recruitment, training, mobilisation, in-country management, monitoring and evaluation, risk and security management and alumni engagement.
At Scope Global we joined our volunteers, host organisations and Australian partner organisations on their journeys, and international volunteering became a big part of our lives too.
Over this time we heard countless stories of impact – from volunteers involved in developing a sign language dictionary in Kiribati, to training teachers in Mongolia, to teaching kids to swim in Vietnam.
We sincerely thank everyone who has been part of this journey. Our success is shared with our volunteers, partners and most importantly the organisations who hosted our volunteers. Their everyday commitment to improving the lives of people in their communities provided a solid foundation for development across the Asia-Pacific region.
